Sometimes, we’re not happy and we want to make a change - but it can feel like it's too late to start something new. Larkin Bohn is a Science Communicator onboard small and large maritime vessels who believes it’s never too late to change your life. After more than a decade at sea, where she got licensed as both a Mate and a Captain, she started a brand-new career at the age of 43 combining her passion for science, videography and women empowerment with her love for being at sea. Now she works with organizations like the National Science Foundation to create content to bridge the gap between the science world and the general public, and her equal rights efforts have been recognized by the Women Offshore Foundation where she was a speaker for their annual conference. She imagines a world where everyone believes they can follow their dreams and change their lives at any age.
Through storytelling, video, public speaking, and volunteering, I empower women and underrepresented voices worldwide to unlock their full potential, embrace their strengths, break barriers, and achieve their dreams because I’ve personally faced the challenges of being underestimated, navigating male-dominated spaces, and redefining my own path—an experience that showed me just how transformative empowerment can be for creating change in your life and others.

As a TEDx speaker, keynote presenter, and professional videographer, I specialize in transformative storytelling—whether through powerful live presentations or compelling digital content.
With a background in high-stakes environments, from documenting scientific research on ships to navigating male-dominated industries, I’ve learned firsthand how identity, leadership, and inclusion impact professional success. Now, I help others break barriers, foster stronger teams, and create meaningful change.
Working many seasons in various conditions on ships and guiding people in rough terrains has primed me to be a focused, patient videographer able to go the extra mile to get unique footage. I am used to working in remote locations, fixing my own equipment in the field, carefully not disturbing the natural environment, and possessing a genuine interest in connecting with people, so I can properly tell their story.

Equipment
To ensure an immersive experience into your research I utilize a variety of instruments capturing images in even the toughest conditions. I incorporate footage from my DJI Mavic Drone, Go Pro, SONY Mirrorless DSLR and the ever-versatile DJI OSMO. No matter what the weather, we are getting that footage!
Post-Production
It's fun to get the footage in the field but, much of the magic happens in the editing room. I strive to make powerful content that keeps your audience engaged from start to finish using some of the latest editing software available.
